When you live in the Villages of Irvine, you can enjoy a season full of family-friendly fall activities, just minutes from your home. Get ready to celebrate fall more festively than ever before with these 10 activities.

Head to Tanaka Farms

A trip to Tanaka Farms during pumpkin patch season is an absolute must. Take advantage of free parking Monday through Friday and adventure through the acres of pumpkins growing at the farm. You can browse through the Produce Market Stand, visit the U-Pick Vegetable Patch, hop on a wagon ride and stop by the Barnyard Educational Exhibit. On weekends, take the whole family through the corn maze or on an ATV ride, and keep your eyes peeled for special events like Pumpkin Cannon and guided tours.

Fall for Treats

Hello Kitty Cafe: Apple Pastry and Coffee with Ghost Art

It’s sugar, spice and everything nice at the Hello Kitty Grand Cafe at Irvine Spectrum Center. This special spot is serving up all treats and no tricks this fall when the family-friendly cafe gets decked out in Halloween-themed decor.

The fall menu this year features cute kitty pumpkin tarts that will make your mouth water, maple glazed mini donuts made to order, apple cider, and, of course, creamy, dreamy pumpkin spiced lattes. At night, parents can enjoy Halloween-inspired drinks like Witches Brew, candy corn concoctions and other pictures of pink perfection when the Bow Room of the cafe turns into a 21+ cocktail lounge.

Host Your Own Neighborhood Party

There’s plenty of events to add to your calendar all around the city of Irvine, but why not plan your own? If you love the fall season, nothing is more exciting than adding decor throughout your home and hosting a get together. Fortunately, when you live in the Villages of Irvine, there’s plenty of room to entertain. Whether you’re carving pumpkins in one of the chef-inspired kitchens or cozying up to watch a spooky film in one of the spacious Great Rooms, there’s plenty of space to celebrate the season.

Take a Trip to Irvine Railroad

Irvine Railroad’s Pumpkin Patch has everything you need to get your full fall fix. When you arrive, it’s all aboard the train, where you get to cruise through the park and take a mini tour of the area. Let your kids ride one of the mini tractors and take a hayride after enjoying snacks. After you’ve played all the carnival games, it’s time to pick out a pumpkin to take home. Don’t leave before you’ve panned for gold!

Catch a Ride on the Giant Wheel

Giant Wheel at Irvine Spectrum Center at Night

Head to the Irvine Spectrum Center’s Giant Wheel to check out all the fall-themed decorations from a birds-eye view. There’s no sight quite like the Giant Wheel lit up at night, and there’s no better way to experience it than during the fall season with your family. Afterward, you can enjoy dinner or dessert at one of the many restaurants and go see The Addams Family at the Regal Theatre

Explore the OC Zoo

All throughout the month of October, get in the Halloween spirit at the OC Zoo with theme nights your entire family will love. Preschool-aged children can participate in the animal art preschool program on weekdays, where they get to meet all the zoo animals and create fall-themed arts and crafts.

The whole family can attend a Halloween animal class and learn about the animals associated with the holiday on 10/19. Then on October 26, take a trip to the zoo for trick-or-treating, a children’s scavenger hunt, crafts and games. Admission is only $2, and all the activities are free.

Grow Your Imagination at Pretend City

Pretend City is a family-friendly wonderland throughout the entire year, but during the fall months you can attend educational-themed events for the season. On October 25, get ready for a ghoulishly good time as you celebrate Frankenstein Friday. Get hands-on with creepy, gooey science experiments, a Monster Mash dance party and more. From 10/21-10/27, visitors can enjoy 25% off their next admission in celebration of Costume Week.

Make Magic at Disneyland

Disneyland

In Irvine, you’re a quick trip away from Disneyland, the hub for celebrating all things fall. Experience the sights of costumed characters and the famous Main Street Pumpkin Festival. If you’re not ready to spend a full day inside the park, you can still head to Downtown Disney and get in on the celebration. You’ll find festive decor and themed performers lining the streets along with select stores offering spooky treats.

Play at Boomers Park

On weekends in October, you can spend an afternoon at Boomers Park going through the hay maze and taking a trip through the trick-or-treat trail. Make some crafts, play some games and don’t forget to dress up! When the sun goes down, the park transforms into a night full of Halloween horror. Brave your way through the Zombie Zone, Midway Mayhem and Pirate Point. Get a group together for a discounted rate on your whole day!

Get Crafty at the YMM Art Space

At the YMM Art Space on 10/25, you can show your creative side and create your own Halloween mask. You’ll be provided with all the supplies you need to make a mask while enjoying free pizza and snacks. The top three masks receive winning prizes, including free art classes.
